Starting Over – Again

For most people, starting over starts tomorrow, or next month, but life just doesn’t work that way. Trust me, it will not wait until you are ready. That’s why I’m starting over… now.

Starting Over Again

The problem with starting over again is that you’ve been here before. You’ve already reached this milestone. And bragged about it. It’s become a reminder of that time you failed.

Once again I find myself on the wrong side of the scale. More month at the end of my money and a greater to-do list than the president of the United States.

It’s hard to find the motivation to gain back that momentum. Also, it’s nearing the end of the year, braai season is upon us and our social agenda is burgeoning. It’s so hard to keep up let alone move forward.

The Idea

As always, the question is – where do you start?

Both YouTube videos I’ve watched on designing your perfekt life encourages you to start with a feeling, not a to-do list. So obviously I’m already at a disadvantage.

You absolutely have to figure out what it is that you want.

The Plan

I’ve started with the end in mind. What do I have to change right this second if I want to end up there? What can I do every day to end up there?  Every time I am confused about whether I should do something or not, I ask myself – “Does this get me to my goal”.

The Goal

I’m ready to retire ya’ll. I don’t mind the actual work. I’m just tired of having to work. From my desk. I really want to be able to work from anywhere. And yes, the picture I have in my head is of my feet up on a boat watching the waves roll by. So that’s my ultimate goal.

Do you know what yours is?

The Tech

I’ve recently rediscovered Any.do. It’s an app that forces you to plan your day, every day and basically nags you until you do it or decide it’s not worth the effort.

Remote Desktop – At the moment, I can work from anywhere – in the house. I’m going to be optimistic and call it practice.

It helps that my husband is in IT, so I’m sure when the time comes, working from anywhere won’t be too much of a hassle!

And Then…

You are finally on track and what happens – life says nope... Something breaks, someone needs your help. It’s the holiday season… you want a new toy (that you actually really need and you can prove it). So your timeline gets pushed back – again.

And then you start that vicious cycle all over again…
